License Plate Programs

Mount Charleston Plate   Mount Charleston License Plate Program

Special vehicle license plates to benefit the natural resources of Mount Charleston are available through the Department of Motor Vehicles. Buyers of these plates pay fees of $61 the first year and $30 each continuing year. Of these fees, $25 the first year and $20 each subsequent year go into a dedicated Mount Charleston fund that is administered by the Nevada Division of State Lands for projects and programs that will support the natural environment of Mount Charleston. These funds are available as grants and must be used for:

The support of programs for the natural environment of the Mount Charleston area, including, without limitation, programs to improve the wildlife habitat, the ecosystem, the forest, public access to the area and its recreational use, and must not be used to replace or supplant money available from other sources. The Administrator may provide grants from the account to other public agencies and political subdivisions, including, without limitation, unincorporated towns, to carry out the provisions of the program.

The Nevada Division of State Lands is committed to working closely with the Mount Charleston Town Advisory Board and all interested citizens and stakeholder groups to ensure that this program is successful. Program procedures and applications will be developed in close coordination with the Town Advisory Board. Community meetings will be conducted soon to gather public input on all aspects of the program. The public is encouraged to provide comments and suggestions at any time via e-mail, phone or fax.
