The State of Nevada, through the Nevada Tahoe Resource Team in collaboration with Nevada Division of State Lands and Division of Forestry, will receive $1.4 million for the Marlette Hazardous Fuels Reduction Project. SNPLMA is funding six hazardous fuels and wildfire prevention projects this year totaling approximately $17 million out of over $400 million approved for Round 19. The Marlette Hazardous Fuels Reduction Project, located in Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park, will use hand crews to thin shrubs and smaller trees and burn slash piles to reduce wildfire hazard, improve forest health, and enhance wildlife habitat on over 450 acres. The project is expected to begin in 2024 and will last six years.
